Swami Nishpapananda is a monk of the Ramakrishna Order, and an assistant swami at the Vedanta Society of St. Louis, where he has resided since 1974. He is a disciple of Swami Satprakashananda, who founded the Vedanta Societies of St. Louis and Kansas City, and who was a disciple of Swami Brahmananda. Swami Nishpapananda joined the Order in 1981 and was given final monastic vows in 1995 by Swami Bhuteshananda, president of the Order from 1989 to 1998. A graduate of Washington University, Swami Nishpapananda is also very active in interfaith work in the St. Louis area, and is frequently invited to speak on Vedanta at high schools and universities.
